The Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPAnet) is an early computer network developed by the Advanced Research Projects Agency of the United States Department of Defense in 1969. APRAnet was the first network to implement the TCP/IP protocol in 1983 and was decommissioned in 1990.
